What Claude Pulse Is

Claude Pulse is a free Google Chrome extension that shows Claude.ai users exactly where they stand with their usage limits — session tokens, weekly caps, burn rate, cost estimates, and model usage — all live, directly in the Chrome toolbar. It's a lightweight, independent tool built for people who rely on Claude every day and want to stop getting surprised by mid-conversation limit cutoffs.

Why We Built It

If you've ever been deep in a conversation with Claude — drafting a document, debugging code, or working through a complex problem — and suddenly hit a "you've reached your limit" wall, you know the frustration. Anthropic's usage limits are there for good reasons, but the interface doesn't always make it easy to see where you stand before you hit them.

Claude Pulse was built to solve exactly that problem. It turns the small visual hints Claude.ai already displays into a clear, persistent dashboard. You glance at the toolbar icon and instantly know: how much of your session is used, how much of your weekly Opus or Sonnet quota is left, what your average token burn rate per message is, and how many more messages you can fit in before you have to stop.

How It Works

Technically, Claude Pulse is about as simple as a Chrome extension can get. When you're on a claude.ai tab, a content script reads the usage numbers and progress bars that are already rendered on the page — the exact same values you could see by squinting at the Claude interface. Those numbers are parsed, stored locally in your browser, and rendered in a clean popup when you click the Claude Pulse icon.

There's no server. There's no API. There's no account. The extension never reads a single word of your conversations — it only reads count numbers and usage bar values that Claude itself displays. A MutationObserver watches for live changes, so your dashboard updates automatically as you chat, with no manual refresh needed.

The Privacy Commitment

The most important thing about Claude Pulse is what it doesn't do. It doesn't collect data. It doesn't ship your usage to a server. It doesn't include analytics. It doesn't require an email address. Everything — your daily snapshots, your settings, your 7-day history — lives locally on your device in Chrome's built-in storage. If you uninstall the extension, it's all gone.

We think privacy should be the default for tools like this, not a paid tier or a checkbox buried in settings. Claude Pulse reflects that belief in its architecture: there's no data collection to disable, because there's no data collection to begin with.

Who Builds It

Claude Pulse is an independent, community-built tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Anthropic in any way. It's a small utility made by Claude users, for Claude users, because we got tired of hitting walls mid-conversation and wanted a better way to see where we stood.

What's Next

We'll keep it simple: track the limits Anthropic exposes, display them clearly, keep everything private, and never charge for the core experience. If Anthropic changes the Claude.ai interface, we'll update the extension. If users ask for new tracking features that fit the privacy-first model, we'll build them.
